What is Therapeutic Facilitation and How Does It Work?

I use Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy both of which are highly effective evidence based forms of psychotherapy, as part of my use of Therapeutic Facilitation. I also use Mindfulness methods, self-healing and meditation techniques to help my clients and patients with their health and emotional balance. I also use a coaching method called 'Schema' -which clients have found to be very helpful if they want to get an appraisal of their life or wished to focus on achieving particular goals. In the section 'Life's Challenges' you will find the areas that I work with. Please click on the sections above describing each approach to learn more about each of the methods I use.

My approach is that my clients and patients have the understanding or the solutions to the problem, already contained within their life experience and that I as practitioner assist them in practical ways to find insight and resolution to their problems. I see my clients and patients as the experts on their lives. Regardless of how they feel about themselves or their current situation when I first meet them.

Often situations and life events sometimes demand that each of us need external help. If we feel overwhelmed by experiences they can cause us to forget what we know about ourselves. This is when people ask me for help, advice and guidance. This approach encourages you as client or patient not to become dependent upon me as practitioner but at the same to feel fully supported and acknowledged. You learn how to heal your self with me as your guide.

My aim is that you can use Therapeutic Facilitation to promote self- education, self-enquiry and problem solving as part of your experience in developing psychological, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being. Therapeutic Facilitation can be used in short, brief or long term sessions for any important matter or situation, whatever it may be. I use it with my clients, face to face, via the telephone, or email, instant messaging or by Skype.
