Christopher Hansard:[ silence in the noise]

NOISE

dwells

in a vast

canopy of silence

without silence there can be no noise

beneath the canopy of silence in which noise, din, clamour, raucousness and confusion jostle

beneath this canopy

is the origin of silence

your inner most nature

the essential you

Christopher Hansard:[ days]

The days come and go

suffused by your memories

each year a different shade and tone

what are the themes

that link each year?

what are the leftovers of passing time?

can you recall the very first year

that you stepped out into the world

seeking a brighter horizon ?

the days that have passed

are your legacy

and opportunity

the past, the days that have gone

are blue smoke over the sea

all and each part of

your soul’s cycle

between

being and becoming

Christopher Hansard:[ can you feel it?]

Can you feel it? I believe you can, I know you can

we all can feel it, the never ending myth that makes the human race dwell in the highest and the lowest of all places

and in the hearts of all Gods

giving them meaning and purpose, for what is a god without those who worship,

just a stranger on the back seat on an interstate greyhound bus,

or the lost wave of starlight in the glare of a Tokyo night

can you feel it?

I know you can, I believe you can

for there will come a time when all of us will need to feel it

if we are to survive…

I hear you ask , ‘well, what is this ‘it’

my answer is, this ‘it’ is you, me, everyone,

for each of us is responsible one for the other

where we are each the love, brother, sister, mother, father, lover

deceased, born, the john doe,

we are all bambi and

all the monster in the moonlight

can you feel it?

Christopher Hansard:[ appreciation]

Appreciation

is

a state of being

not a state of mind

Peace is a state of well-being

not a state of mind

Balance

is a state

of consciousness

not a state of mind

the mind does not have states

but processes

like seasons

like rivers

like sand and wind

because we live in these things

it does not mean that

we are them

you may live in the process of your mind

but you

are not your mind

your mind

is a state of existance

that encapsulates

the person that

you belive your

Self to be

Christopher Hansard:[ can you walk just a little further?]

When the world gets you down

and all your strength has gone

can you was just a little further?

when the burdens seem to much

can you walk just a little further?

when the blessings of life are manifold

and plentiful

can you walk a little further?

Blessings, burdens can be dropped

if they make you question

if you can walk just a little further

sometimes all you need to do

is stop

and drop

blessings and burdens

and sit with

your unadorned

self

Christopher Hansard:[ what is?]

What is the pain in your life made of? How is it formed and pieced together so that you enter into a place of suffering?

Do you know how your suffering is made? What is the joy, happiness and well-being in your life made of? How is it formed so that you enter into a place of actually being alive?

What is the reason for you getting up in the morning? Do you know how that reason shapes your thoughts and thus your life?

What is the relationship that you have with your inner self? Do you know who that may be? Does the outer person that you think you are float upon a wave of gas called ‘my identity’ or is firmly dovetailed into the genuine experience of your own humanity?

When in doubt, do not ask how , or why, or when, or even who, but what is?

And, answers will come that will challenge you and console you, shake you and soothe you..

What is, is both answer and the question.

Christopher Hansard:[ living]

living

is the essence

of life

there is no absence of life

even in death

every year

a metaphor

for your own

parallel

existance

Christopher Hansard[ Rhapsody]

In search of a rhapsody

there are saxophones in the old growth

of Clayoquat

on Meares Island

sing a thousand voices

that taught Gershwin

about how to feel

the pain of migrancy

in the blue lipped maidens

of the inside passage

there comes

a rush of ginger tasting

strings, violas and violins

caught up in maple syrup

and wisdom

balanced by a

refrain

that only

a rhapsody

makes sense of

there are

saxophones on the prowl

in the far north of british Columbia

and the bison of Alberta

are double bass bassoon lovers

in search of a vegetarian barbecue

rhapsody on the channel

where the white pelican and his star maiden

go across the divide

far stronger that that which can divide

on that swell

I have seen the rhapsody

of orcas, yellow cedar

and the unseen

smoke gets in your eyes

and rhapsody breathes

you in

birches came from Ontario

cedar comes from the red road

and I have trod the red road

playing the flute in ancient times

to the peoples of the red land

rhapsody

is what feeds the

thunderbird

flying north by northwest

where you reveal the ancient cartography

modern coachroaches come out

scuttling

to try and rearrange

the map

the ancient world bides its time

waiting for the ancient voice

to be born in

a modern tongue

spread your breath

upon the ocean

it shall be a lake

all the world

loves

a

rhapsody

Christopher Hansard:[ Thoughts are your body]

Thoughts are your body

and yet they are not your mind

what is your mind?

its not what you feel or think

thoughts are your body

think on that

Christopher Hansard:[ rain fall]

Rain fall when did you last sit and watch the rain fall?

for many, rainfall is a strange fantasy… watch the rain fall

for in awhile, we may wonder where the rain has gone

and it will only fall in our memory..buteven there the naturalworld can be encouraged to make life

rain fall, wihout it,so do we
