Pain and Suffering
Pain is a big experience. There is physical pain, psychological pain and spiritual pain. The way we relate to pain influences the way we experience pain. Pain and suffering are not the same things yet can contribute to each other and create levels of association so that we think they are the same. I would like to share with you some of the ways I work with people to help them understand their pain and suffering. Suffering is a process of life and in order to understand that you can begin to look at how you have suffered in the past or present and what you can do to change that. So that you can gain skills to help you understand your own suffering and how you may suffer less.
Working with Illness, Addiction and Pain:
If you are experiencing chronic pain, serious or terminal illness or know someone who is, then the methods I have described under the page, 'Therapeutic Facilitation' could be helpful . Pain, illness, suffering -these are part of life and living but you can come to a place of learning how to change your relationship with these powerful forces of mind, body and brain. You can do so through using techniques of Mindfulness, or by using psychotherapeutic methods such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, or Self-Healing techniques or certain forms of meditation. I also work with people who are experiencing the challenges of conditions such as:
the emotional and psychological aspects of serious and terminal illness, recurrent backache, migraine, cluster headaches, stress headaches, addiction: tobacco, alcohol, drugs: illegal and prescription, nerve damage pain, chronic pain, recurrent acute pain, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome and other gastrointestinal disorders, the emotional and psychological aspects of tropical diseases such as Malaria , Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, psychogenic illnesses
I help the client to use psychological and emotional techniques, along with self-healing, mindfulness and meditation methods to assist in improving the client's relationship to their illness. So if you are suffering from any of these maybe I can assist you in finding ways of improving your relationship to whatever is ailing you.
Improving the Quality of Your Life:
You can improve your quality of life and by that change that which causes you pain or increases your sense of suffering, and look at the patterns that have been created around your pain, illness and life. By looking at how events in your life contributed to the experiences that you have now- and how your life has changed as a whole- you can gain powerful insight into why you are experiencing the things that you currently are. Your body and mind hold many answers to the way you currently are and by learning how to be in communication with these parts of yourself, they will begin to tell you the story that you have been longing to hear. In the 'The Art of Being Yourself' section of my website there are sections that can help you. Please have a look. You can heal all the associated 'stuff' that goes along or is attached to your situation and develop a new and vibrant way of living. Even in your current situation there are ways of practically improving every aspect of it. If you would like to know more please contact me in the 'Consult with Christopher' section of my website, and you can find out about fees and how to make an appointment.
